AUDCO TAKE EARLY LEAD IN NEWPORT POOL LEAGUE

NEWPORT (Shropshire): The opening salvos have been fired in the 2007-2008 Newport & District Pool League.

Audco have laid down the gauntlet with two early seasons wins against league newcomers Shakespeare and the Navy Club, although they had to come from 2-0 down to beat a spirited Shakespeare side, following wins by D Brenan and Matt Hestor

Under achievers Lilleshall SC got their season off to a dismal start with a 4-2 defeat against Junction A, ‘In-off’ Ben Longstaff not helping matters for the away side, whose only positive performance came from rookie Greg Heathcote. The Wheatsheaf held the Sutherland at Muxton to a 3-3 draw, while the Navy Club and the Boat at Gnosall have registered a win apiece.

Team members from the Railway Tavern have officially withdrawn from the league because their home venue is too busy to host home matches on a Wednesday evening. They will now be classed as a bye in future fixtures.

Would teams please ensure that all match forms are returned to the Railway Tavern as soon as possible after games to ensure that league tables are as accurate as possible.
