NDP PUBLICITY SERVICES CELEBRATES 18TH BIRTHDAY
Newport-based NDP Publicity Services has just celebrated its 18th birthday, after being established as a sports management consultancy and public relation operation by Newport?s Neil Perkins in 1990.
Since then the company has operated in 64 countries on many diverse sporting projects, including motor racing, rallying, powerboat racing, football, golf, pool, squash, cycling, motorcycle racing, karting, rugby, enduro riding and both the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester and 2006 Asian Games in Doha.
NDP Publicity Services is currently working on the press office operation for August?s Baja GB in Wales (Britain?s first ever round of the FIA International Cup for Bajas) on the pre-event publicity for a 12-day road race across Peru in mid-September and with the State of Qatar?s two race teams taking part in the 2007 UIM Formula One and 2007 WPPA Class 1 World Powerboat Championships.
The company works on annual sporting projects with clients in Mexico, Qatar, France, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Jordan, Syria, Cyprus, Kuwait, Lebanon, Germany and the Netherlands.
?It has been a very exciting and, sometimes, stressful 18 years since NDP was established,? said Perkins, who attended Adams? Grammar School in Newport. ?But it has given me the opportunity to visit many exotic and remote places and work alongside numerous famous people in some exciting and not so exciting places, from the far reaches of the Sahara to the barren wastelands of the Atacama and the hustle and bustle of Sao Paolo or Mexico City.?
Perkins highlights a five-day youth football promotion in Dubai in 1994 with the legendary Brazilian footballer Pele as the highlight of his working career, although NDP Publicity Services has worked on the last eight Dakar rallies and Perkins has been a member of the winning Team Mitsubishi Ralliart on five occasions since 2003. He still contributes to Sky Sports?s World Motorsport programme as a freelance television presenter in the Middle East.
?Much of NDP?s current work takes place in international sport at the moment, but we are actively seeking sporting projects closer to home,? adds Perkins.
NDP Publicity Services (www.ndp-publicity.com) is currently organising the Worthington Newport Pool Open for the second year, the first round draw for which will take place at the start of August.
