MARCHES 4X4 ANNOUNCE THIRD ROUND
OF BORC AT CASTLE O’ER IN SCOTLAND
Huddersfield’s Richard Kershaw holds 10-point BORC lead;
David Nutter and Matt Lowe tied in BORC Trophy category
NEWTOWN (Wales): The Matador Tyres MSA British Off-Road Championship (BORC) heads to Scottish border country at the end of this month, when Marches 4×4 Motorsport Management Limited will organise the third round of the series in Castle O’er forest, near Lockerbie. The event takes place on Saturday, June 30th and Sunday. July 1st.
Interest is burgeoning in Britain’s premier off-road series, ahead of what promises to be a thrilling Baja GB in Wales in August, and event officials are hopeful that all BORC championship regulars will take part in the Scottish event, which will use a testing 10-mile special stage in the forest that was made famous by both the Scottish and former RAC rallies. The stage has a reputation for being fast and flowing and officials have confirmed that a renowned section through a quarry will also be used.
Reconnaissance of the special stage is not permitted, although clerk of the course Selwyn Kendrick has confirmed that competitors will be permitted to walk the route. Rally headquarters, catering and camping facilities will be situated in farm buildings in close proximity to the forest.
~This event is popular with all our competitors and we are delighted to be able to run such a long and varied stage,~ said Kendrick. ~We have been busy with the digger, resurfacing one section of the track near the stream, and I am confident that the stage will be a challenging one for all our competitors.~
Huddersfield’s Richard Kershaw currently holds a 10-point lead in the 2007 Matador Tyres MSA British Off-Road Championship at the wheel of his Peugeot GSR Evo9. Victory at the last round in Bleddfa has moved him clear of Keith Lewis’s Simmbugghini and Toby Jefferson. Preston’s Gordon Monaghan, who won the first round at Baden Hall in April, lies equal third with Jefferson on 134 points.
Burnley’s David Nutter and Chorley’s Matt Lowe have taken a victory apiece in the Trophy category and are tied for the lead on 157 points. David Brown is 17 points adrift and Tim Hayday is a further four points behind.

The entry fee for clubmen is ?120.00. Entries must be made on official entry forms that can be downloaded from www.marches4x4.com. The maximum number of starters allowed by the organisers will be 60 vehicles.
