Australian Damon Cohen to join Alberto Comparato in new team
Monday, November 25: H2O Racing has officially confirmed the return of Team Comparato for the 2025 UIM F1H2O World Championship season. After spending this year competing with Team Abu Dhabi, Italian driver Alberto Comparato will be returning to his family-run team, ready to take on new challenges with familiar faces by his side. His team-mate will be the Australian racer Damon Cohen.
By returning to Team Comparato, Alberto will once again work closely with his trusted crew of mechanics, including his father Fabio Comparato, a former F1H2O driver himself, who has always been at the heart of Alberto’s racing career. Additionally, Great Britain’s Matt Palfreyman has been confirmed as the team manager for the forthcoming season.
Comparato expressed his gratitude for the valuable experience gained with Team Abu Dhabi. He said: “I would like to sincerely thank Guido (Cappellini) and the entire Abu Dhabi Team for the incredible opportunity they gave me this past season. It was an unforgettable experience and I’m grateful for their support and professionalism. I’ve learned a lot, and it’s been a key part of my growth as a driver.”
New team-mate Cohen, 25, hails from Sydney and is the brother of esteemed racer Brock. He started racing in the Australian Formula Future Championship in 2011 and went on to win the series for a second year in 2012. He made his UIM F4 debut with Blaze Performance in 2017 and was crowned as the Australian 550cc SuperSports champion the same year. Damon graduated to the AFPGP F2 series and was pole position winner in 2018 and 2019.
More recently, he was the Australian Unlimited Open champion this year and also finished third in the British national F2 Championship. A marine mechanic and engine builder by trade. Damon was the lead mechanic for Grant Trask (2018) and his brother Brock (2023) in the UIM F1H2O World Championship.
