2024 UIM F1H2O WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

H2O RACING UNVEILS RETURN TO ZHENGZHOU FOR ROUND FIVE OF 2024 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

Tuesday, September 24: H2O Racing today confirmed that the Chinese city of Zhengzhou will host the fifth round of this year’s UIM F1H2O World Championship on October 17th-19th.

The capital of east-central China’s Henan Province hosted the second round of last year’s championship in late April after the People’s Republic of China had been absent from the calendar for four years. The demanding Yellow River course played host to a fascinating race where Jonas Andersson of Team Sweden claimed victory from Team Abu Dhabi’s Shaun Torrente and the Sharjah Team’s Ferdinand Zandbergen and the Swede eventually went on to secure his second world title.

The return to Zhengzhou will come just two weeks after the Chinese financial hub of Shanghai hosts round four of the World Championship on the Huangpu River on October 4th-6th.

“We are delighted to officially unveil the return to the city of Zhengzhou for the fifth round of this year’s World Championship,” said H2O Racing’s founder Nicolò di San Germano. “The city granted everyone a warm welcome last year and we had a terrific race on the Yellow River. The inclusion of the Grand Prix of Zhengzhou-China bolsters this year’s championship to six Grand Prix with China now firmly back in focus with two rounds in the 2024 calendar.”

Zhengzhou is one of the eight historical capitals of China and has a rich culture, a long history and is known as being the cradle of Chinese civilization.

The city borders the Yellow River to the north and Mount Songshan to the west and is an integral part of the core area of the Central Plains Economic Zone. It has a population well in excess of 12.6 million people and is a major city for scientific research and home to several key national universities.
