LORD HILL SET TO HOST 2013 JOULE’S
BREWERY MARKET DRAYTON OPEN FINALS

NEWPORT (Shropshire): The finals of the 2013 Joule’s Brewery Market Drayton Open will take place at the Lord Hill in Market Drayton on Thursday, May 30th.

Defending Market Drayton singles champion Ricky Leese will take on the in-form Graham Tigwell in the final of the singles. Leese has already beaten two of the doubles finalists on the way to the singles final, while Tigwell – who plays for King’s Head A in the Newport Pool League – began the season with 11 straight league singles victories and reached the final by thrashing the current Newport Open champion Neil Dale in a rapid-fire semi-final and getting the better of tournament organiser Colin Pink in the quarters.

Newport brothers Greg and Antony Heathcote will take on the defending Newport Open doubles champions and current league leaders Mick Manning and George Allen in the final of the doubles.

Greg Heathcote has already lifted the Neil Clark Memorial Trophy in Newport this season and brother Antony is a three-time Newport Open finalist with one win under his belt. He knocked Manning out of this year’s singles competition as well.

Manning and Allen play for the undefeated Horns Gnosall B in the league and Manning has won the last four Newport Doubles Open, three with Colin Pink and one with his current partner. They also clinched the Market Drayton League title.

“It promises to be a cracking evening with two top class finals on show,” said Colin Pink. “We hope that many of the league players and friends from both Newport and Market Drayton will join us and offer their support on the night.”
