LEADING RIDERS CARRY OUT PRACTICE SESSIONS
FOR SECOND ROUND OF QATAR JET SKI CHAMPIONSHIP

· Caumont, Al-Mannai, Al-Heidus and Allanjawi quickest in practice

DOHA (Qatar): Competitors carried out a single practice session in their respective categories for Saturday’s races at the second round of the Qatar International Jet Ski Championship at Katara, Qatar’s cultural village, on Friday.

Both the pole position sessions and the actual races in the respective Ski Stock, Runabout Stock, Runabout Stock (beginner class) and Runabout F1 categories will talke place at Katara on Saturday.

The event is being organised by the Qatar Marine Sports Federation (QMSF) under the presidency of His Excellency Sheikh Hassan bin Jabor Al-Thani.

Frenchman Ludovic Caumont set the quickest lap of 1m 20.38s in the Ski Division F1 category, with Rashid Al-Owaiss and Qatar’s Waleed Mahmoud Al-Sharshani taking second and third places among the seven riders who entered the practice session.

Qatar’s Rashid Ebrahim Al-Mannai headed the six riders in the Super Stock (Runabout F1) section with a time of 1m 12.47s. Ali Muhamad Allanjawi was second and Abdullah Ghulam Ali was third.

Nine riders were entered in the Runabout Stock section and Qatar’s Mohamed Abdula Al-Heidus topped the times with a potent fastest lap of 1m 00.35s. Fellow countryman Rashid Ebrahim Al-Mannai was second and Abdullah Ghulam Ali was third.

A further eight riders were entered in the Runabout Stock (beginner class) and the fastest practice time of the day fell to the UAE’s Hamad Yousef Allanjawi, with Kuwait’s Abdulaziz Hamad Al-Omar taking second position and fellow Kuwaiti Abdulrahman Ghazi Al-Omar sealing third.

Tomorrow (Saturday) riders will be permitted a second practice session between 9.45hrs and 11.00hrs before pole position qualifying for the Qatar Aqua Bike open races takes place from 11.15hrs to 12.50hrs.

The Ski Division F1 (Ski Stock) race gets underway at 2pm and riders will tackle a 15-minute race with one additional lap. Runabout Stock riders take to the water from 2.30pm for their similar race duration and the Runabout Stock (Beginner class) follow at 3pm. The on-water action concludes with a 20-minute and one lap Runabout Super Stock (Runabout F1) race from 3.30pm.
