KHALED SALEH AL-SHAMLAN MAKES THE BIG
STEP UP TO JOINING QATAR’S UIM F1 H20 TEAM
· Khalid Abdullah Al-Kuwari set for Qatar F-4S role
DOHA (Qatar): Khalid bin Arhama Al-Kuwari, the QMSF’s head of formula racing, has confirmed that Khalid Saleh Al-Shamlan will race a third Qatar Team boat in this weekend’s Grand Prix of Qatar, round one of the UIM F1 H20 World Championship.
The Doha-based driver impressed many with his performances in the UIM F-4S series in 2011 and Al-Kuwari has decided that he is ready to make the step up to racing alongside Qatar’s World Champion Alex Carella and team-mate Shaun Torrente in three DAC boats.
“Khaled Al-Shamlan will race in F1 now and we are delighted that he has made the big step,” said Al-Kuwari. “His place in the Qatar F-4S team will be taken by Khalid Abdullah Al-Kuwari.”
Free practice for both F1 and F-4S teams gets underway on Friday morning and precedes the first of the F-4S races and the F1 qualifying session.
