SUTHY AND SHAKE C KEEP UP THE POOL PRESSURE
NEWPORT (Shropshire): The Sutherland Arms and Shakespeare C kept up the pressure on the Newport & District Pool League-leading King’s Head A after the 10th week of matches.
Tom Fisken’s Tibberton side dismissed LSC with the loss of just one frame and Ben Clewes’s Upper Bar team snatched three points against the Navigation. NRBL flattered to deceive and struggled to overcome the Plough at Woodseaves in a scrappy match in Newport. “The visitors deserved a draw,” admitted NRBL player Antony Heathcote.
The Navy Club held the Railway Tavern at Upper Bar, but the Junction A continued their run of good form by beating Wheatsheaf B with the loss of just one frame. Luke Jones was the bright light for the Chetwynd Aston side, as Hyla Marklew’s Norbury team continued their improvement from a lacklustre start to the season. Shakespeare A pipped King’s Head B, 4-2.
The results of the King’s Head A’s contest with the Shakespeare B and the Wheatsheaf A’s game against Junction B were not available as we closed for press.
Results should be sent as soon as possible after the match on Wednesday evenings to 07831 123153. Three outstanding week four matches must be ‘rearranged’ in the next seven days.
Please note that all league fees (£30 per team) must be paid by February 17th or points scored by teams will not count after this date. Clearly marked envelopes can be left with Ian Roberts at the Railway Tavern.
