STAFFORD’S WILL EDGE BLOWS OUT THE ‘HURRICANE’

NEWPORT (Shropshire): Stafford’s Will Edge cruised into the third round of the 2010 Carling Newport Pool Open with a 3-1 victory over Neil ‘Hurricane’ Haseley at the Railway Tavern. Edge now faces a clash with snooker player John Williams if he is to reach the quarterfinals.

Florida-bound Ian Roberts and Steve ‘Wanderer’ Morrey bowed out of the Worthington’s Newport Doubles Open with a whimper at the Railway Tavern. Market Drayton’s Mick Manning did the damage with some sensational potting in two of the three racks that he and Hinstock’s Colin Pink sealed in less than 30 minutes.

The defending champions are the first pair into the hat for the semi-finals of the doubles competition. All second and third round fixtures must be played by Wednesday, September 15th.
