JUNCTION A RETURN TO FORM IN TIBBERTON
NEWPORT (Shropshire): The Junction A made it two wins over the Sutherland Arms in as many weeks as the sleeping giants from Norbury were arosed and began their climb up the table. The result knocked the Tibberton side off the top of the Newport Pool League, because Newport Royal British Legion scraped past the in-form Navigation with a 4-2 win to retain their title challenge.
The Wheatsheaf disposed of Dave ‘Keano’ Price’s fading Lilleshall Sports Centre side by the similar margin and the New Inn stunned the King’s Head A in Stafford Road to resume their push up the league table after several disappointing results, Tony Downes starring for the New Inn side.
Honours were shared between the Shakespeare A and Railway Tavern at Upper Bar and the Swan remained in title contention with a 5-1 demolition of the Audco side, although frame difference means that NRBL remain top of the league.
The Junction B continued their good run of form with a 5-1 victory over the Shakespeare B team at Norbury and the Navy Club beat King’s Head B, 5-1, in the final match of the night.
All match forms are to be delivered to the Railway Tavern in Newport and match results sent immediately by text message to 07831 123153.
Annual pool fees of £30 must be paid by the end of February and should be left in a clearly marked envelope with staff at the Railway Tavern. All outstanding matches that were postponed because of the winter snap MUST also be played by the end of February.
