SHEIKH HASSAN CONFIRMS SPIRIT OF QATAR TEAM
WINS ‘SPORTSMANSHIP’ AWARD AT KEY WEST
KEY WEST (Florida): His Excellency Sheikh Hassan bin Jabor Al-Thani is delighted to announce that the Spirit of Qatar Team was presented with a prestigious ‘sportsmanship’ award at last week’s 29th Key West World Championships in Florida.
Sheikh Hassan and his British throttleman Steve Curtis clinched the Superboat 850 Extreme world title at the Florida race venue and were handed the prestigious award at the end-of-event gala dinner.
“This is an honour for everyone connected with the Spirit of Qatar Team and the Qatar Marine Sports Federation (QMSF),” said a delighted Shiekh Hassan, President of the QMSF. “It goes to show that the sportsmanlike conduct we portray in a racing environment has been noted by our fellow competitors.”
Previous distinguished winners of the award include former Miami Vice star Don Johnson and martial arts expert and actor Chuck Norris.
The QMSF is now preparing for this weekend’s Qatar Grand Prix, rounds 11 and 12 of the 16-race UIM F1 World Championship, where Team Qatar’s Jay Price will be hoping to collect valuable championship points in his bid to retain Qatar’s world title.
