PARALLEL SLALOM SUCCESS FOR DRANGE, MICKAEL PORET AND JOHANSSON ON LAKE TOBA

  • World Parallel Slalom titles for Ypraus, Morgan Poret and Johansson

Sunday, November 17:  The Parallel Slalom competition was held in front of a captivated crowd after dark on Saturday evening and three sets of qualifiers entertained the spectators in the Pangururan area on Lake Toba.

European Champion Benedicte Drange earned 25 points for her balance and guile on the Slalom course to take the honours in the Ski Ladies GP1 section from World Championship favourite Jasmiin Ypraus and Sweden’s Sofie Borgström and Janina Johansson. After winning the category in Vietnam, Ypraus did enough to seal the world title by four points from Drange with Borgström rounding off the final podium.

Frenchman Mickael Poret edged out his brother Morgan to snatch Ski Division GP1 honours with Dag Martin Drange and Japan’s Soshi Sato finishing third and fourth. But his brother prevailed in the World Championship by just two points with Swiss racer Alec Enderli finishing the two-heat season in third.

Swedish World Championship leader Samuel Johansson earned parallel slalom success in the flagship Runabout GP1 category from Hungarian György Kasza, Jérémy Perez and Rasmus Koch Hansen. The Swede had finished third in Vietnam back in March and the 45 points was enough to beat Perez to the title on a tie-break. Kasza finished the season in third.
