PROVISIONAL ENTRY FOR NOVEMBER’S WORLD ENDURANCE CHAMPIONSHIP STARTS TO TAKE SHAPE

Tuesday, August 6: Aquabike Promotion has released the provisional entry list for the 2024 UIM-ABP Aquabike Endurance World Championship, which will take place for the second successive year on Lake Toba in Indonesia on November 13th-15th.

The initial list features 15 riders from Europe, four from the UAE, two American competitors, two from southeast Asia, one from both New Zealand and Australia, a Chinese entry and a pair of Japanese racers.

Although the defending champion Jean Bruno Pastorello is absent from the list, the current UIM-ABP Runabout GP1 World Champion and recently crowned European Endurance champion François Medori is present along with French legend and Medori’s team boss Teddy Pons, who returns to the hot seat to challenge for Endurance honours.

The list of European racers also includes Portugal’s Lino Araújo – the winner of the recent Moto 1 at the European Endurance Championship in Vichy – GP2 European Endurance champion Slobodan Sobic, Spain’s Ruben Jimenez Riquelme and Hungarian György Kasza.

Rashed Al-Tayer and Rashed Al-Dawas attended last year’s endurance spectacle on Lake Toba and return for more action alongside UAE colleagues Khalid Al-Mazmi and Salman Allawadi. The experienced all-rounders Dustin Farthing and Anthony Radetic represent the United States of America and Kiwi Kylie Ellmers has entered race week alongside Japan’s Jun Ikoma and Isahal Hajime.

The Southeast Asian challenge comes from Thailand’s Permphon Teerapatpanich and Cambodian Saly Ou Mouet, while China’s Chen Shan and Australia’s Scott Phillips will also be aiming for success on the spectacular volcanic lake race venue.

The championship will be fought out over three days of racing with the Karo Cup taking place over two 35-minute endurance races on November 13th from the village of Tongging.

Riders will compete for the Dairi Cup over a pair of 35-minute races on November 14th from Silalahi and day three (November 15th) sees action over two Motos for the Simalungun Cup from the town of Parapat.
