ED RACING’S ESSA AL-DOSSARI ROLLS ON SECOND
DESERT LOOP STAGE OF ABU DHABI DESERT CHALLENGE

QASR AL SARAB (UAE): ED Racing’s Essa Al-Dossari blotted his copybook by rolling his South African-built Nissan Navara in the second 287.92km selective section of the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge on Monday.

The Saudi and Emirati navigator Ali Hassan Obaid began the day in 14th position in the overall standings, but he has annoyed to roll the car in the dunes and was waiting for his service team to work on the car to enable him to continue with time penalties into the third desert stage.

Al-Dossari said: “After around 100km from the start of the stage there was a slight downhill. It wasn’t a fast section and I was not driving too quickly. The car rolled upside down. I don’t know exactly why it rolled. I am trying with the mechanics to find out what exactly happened. We are fixing the car to make sure that we can start again tomorrow.”

Czech driver Martin Prokop set the fastest time of 3hrs 55min 15sec and moved into the outright lead for the first time. He takes an advantage of 10min 30.2sec over the FIA World Cup leader Jakub Przygonski into the third loop stage of 281.27km on Tuesday morning.
