OVERDRIVE RACING SENDS THREE TOYOTA HILUXES TO BAJA POLAND
· Venezuelans Coffaro and Meneses chase FIA World Cup points in Szczecin
· Poland’s Dabrowski and Russian Ogorodnikov drive second and third cars
SZCZECIN (Poland): Overdrive Racing is sending three Toyota Hiluxes to next weekend’s Baja Poland, the sixth round of the 2013 FIA World Cup for Cross-Country Rallies, which starts in the rural town of Szczecin on Friday (August 30th) afternoon.
The Venezuelan pairing of Nunzio Coffaro and Daniel Meneses are tackling the full series of FIA World Cup events with the Belgian team and line-up in the first Toyota.
Poland’s Marek Dabrowski and Jacek Czachor crew the second car on their home event and the Russian duo of Leonid Ogorodnikov and Anton Nikolaev complete the team line-up.
Coffaro finished fifth place in the recent Baja Spain and third in Baja Hungary and now holds fourth in the points’ standings for the FIA World Cup. The Team Azimut driver will be keen to build upon those consistent results when he tackles the Polish event this weekend.
Marek Dabrowski is better known in Poland for his rallying exploits on a motorcycle as part of the official Team Orlen Dakar enduro team. But the Pole and fellow enduro rider Jacek Czachor finished a superb fourth overall on their debut with the Overdrive Toyota Team at the punishing Silk Way Rally in Russia and the local duo will be determined to achieve a top result on their home event in front of enthusiastic crowds of local support.
Russian driver Leonid Ogorodnikov rolled his Overdrive Toyota in a test before the recent Baja Spain and was unable to start the rally. With the car repaired, Leonid is raring to go in Poland.
After a ceremonial start in Szczecin at 17.00hrs on Friday, August 30th, action gets underway with a timed 11.42km super special stage at the military shooting range in Szczecin from 17.30hrs.
The bulk of the competitive action takes place along varied tracks and trails in rural Poland on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday’s timetable includes two runs through a punishing 165.20km selective section, starting at 09.32hrs and 14.26hrs respectively, with service after each of the Poligon Drawski stages taking place at Drawkso Pomorskie.
Crews then tackle two runs through the 68.78km Dobra selective section from 08.30hrs and 12.30hrs on Sunday, September 1st, before the event draws to a close at the Bartolomeo Monument in Aviators’ Square in Szczecin from 15.00hrs.
