MEXICAN ORGANISERS ISSUE ENTRY LIST FOR THIRD
ROUND OF 2013 FIA WORLD RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP
· Twelve Priority 1 drivers on 27-car entry list
· German Armin Kremer heads WRC2 category
LEÓN (Mexico): Rally Guanajuato Mexico organisers have now published the entry list for the third round of the 2013 FIA World Rally Championship, which takes place on March 7-10.
Twenty-seven cars have entered the 10th running of Mexico’s premier rallying event and the entry list includes 12 Priority 1 drivers, one Priority 2 driver and six Priority 3 entrants. Mexican, Venezuelan and Costa Rican drivers round off the foot of the entry list.
Finland’s Mikko Hirvonen and Spaniard Dani Sordo spearhead the Citroën Total Abu Dhabi World Rally Team challenge in the absence of defending champion Sébastien Loeb. Australian Chris Atkinson is entrusted with a third Abu Dhabi Citroën Total World Rally Team DS3 WRC.
Fresh from taking their first WRC victory with the Polo R WRC in Sweden, Volkswagen Motorsport has entered the Mexican event with French championship leader Sébastien Ogier and Finland’s Jari-Matti Latvala.
Norwegian Mads Østberg and Russian Evgeny Novikov represent the Qatar M-Sport World Rally Team, with Qatar’s Nasser Saleh Al-Attiyah joining them at the top of the entry list in a third Ford Fiesta RS WRC entered by the Qatar World Rally Team. Belgian Thierry Neuville drives the Qatar Team’s second car.
Other Priority 1 drivers include Poland’s Michal Kosciuszko in his Lotos Team WRC Ford Fiesta, Czech Martin Prokop (Jipocar Czech National Team Ford Fiesta) and American Ken Block with a Hoonigan Racing Division-entered Ford.
Mexican driver Benito Guerra tops the local challenge with his privately-run Citroën DS3 WRC.
Six drivers have entered the WRC2 category in Mexico. Germany’s Armin Kremer tops the entry with his Subaru Impreza and Ukrainian driver Yuriy Protasov makes his third start of the season in a similar car.
Italian Lorenzo Bertelli (Subaru), Mexico’s Ricardo Trivińo (Mitsubishi), Peruvian Nicolas Fuchs (Mitsubishi) and Qatar’s Abdulaziz Al-Kuwari (Ford Fiesta RRC) complete the WRC2 line-up.
