COORS NEWPORT POOL OPEN ENTRY DEADLINE LOOMS
NEWPORT (Shropshire): Entries for the 2008 Coors Newport Open and Worthington’s Newport Doubles Open competitions officially close at midnight on Friday, (July 4th) and the draw will be made at 8pm at the Railway Tavern on Sunday evening (July 6th).
A last minute rush of entries are expected to join a list that already includes 2006 semi-finalist Andy Dean, Tavern landlords and former league players Dave Wilkinson and Ian Roberts, the highly-rated Ray Talbot, the inconsistent Steve Garmson, a plethora of entries from the King’s Head – including Mick Collins, Sam Higgins and Ian Perry – and a host of league regulars from across the Newport & District area.
Last year’s winners, Anthony Heathcote and Andy Lycett, head the early doubles entrants, although the championship organisers are hopeful that 32 pairs will take part in the tournament.
Pubs and clubs are requested to drop completed forms and entry monies off in a sealed envelope at the Railway Tavern no later than Saturday, July 5th, clearly marked for the attention of Neil Perkins, 2008 Newport Pool Open. Further details are available on 07831 123153.
