UAE DESERT CHALLENGE ORGANISERS
ANNOUNCE NEW TIE-IN WITH DIMC

DUBAI (UAE): Mohammed Ben Sulayem, the chairman of the organising committee of the 2003 UAE Marlboro Desert Challenge, and Saeed Hareb, managing director of the Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC) and Le Meridien Mina Seyahi, today (Thursday) announced that the rally press office will be located at DIMC.

Organisers of the five-day final round of the FIA and FIM World Cups for Cross Country Rallies, which begins with a Prologue on Monday, October 20th, will be able to use DIMC’s state-of-the-art facilities.

DIMC has served as a venue for numerous watersports events – from Class 1 Offshore powerboat racing to kite surfing competitions and dhow racing. DIMC was created as a base for the UAE Victory Offshore Powerboat team.

~This will be the first time in the rally’s 14-year history that our media centre will be based at DIMC,~ said Ben Sulayem. ~DIMC is a notable and significant venue in the Middle East, which is equipped to handle major international events due to the backing of the UAE Government.

~We are happy with this new alliance, because it allows us to use DIMC’s extensive facilities. As well, a change of venue will inject new spirit into this year’s event, which is set to attract the strongest collection of drivers ever seen on a motorsport event in the Middle East.~

The UAE Marlboro Desert Challenge is being held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, Crown Price of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Minister of Defence.

~We are very excited to have the opportunity to include the UAE Marlboro Desert Challenge in our portfolio of events, said Saeed Hareb. ~The event has proved itself a highly successful event since its inception and the management team and I are looking forward to hosting this rally and wish the organisers the best of luck in their preparations.~
