TONY KART’S OK SENIOR ROOKIE KEANU AL-AZHARI
HEADS TO ITALY FOR EURO SERIES 2022 KARTING CHALLENGE

CASTREZZATO (ITALY): Young Emirati kart racer Keanu Al-Azhari returns to OK Senior karting action at the Franciacorta circuit in Italy this weekend.

The Tony Kart team driver is taking part in the fourth and final round of the Champions of the Future Euro 2022 Series on a circuit where he finished 10th in his debut in the highly competitive category in a Winter Series round at the end of February.

Al-Azhari is joined in the Tony Kart Racing Team’s OK Senior team by China’s Ruiqi Lui, Italy’s Luigi Coluccio and James Egozi, Finland’s Tuukka Taponen and Juho Valtonen, Great Britain’s Joseph Turney, Poland’s Jakub Rasjki, Austria’s Oscar Wurz.

Keanu said: “After a short break from European karting due to a month-long focus on end of Grade 9 school exams at the Dubai American Academy, I am very excited to come back to Italy with Tony Kart at Franciacorta for the final round of the Champions of the Future.

“I look forward to pushing for another great result as I had in the previous rounds this year. This is my first year in OK Senior and to make sure we, as a team, are prepared for the FIA European Championship at the same track in 10 days’ time and all summer races in our programme.

“With the weather being 10-15 degrees hotter than it was in the spring, I will be required to perform more accurately to get the maximum speed out of the kart and this will give me great experience for the future. As always, I will do my best with my team Tony Kart and push for the best results for the UAE.”

The Champions of the Future Euro 2022 Series has already visited Portugal, Spain and Sweden this season. Al-Azhari finished 20th in Portimao and 16th at Zuera in Spain, while Tony Kart team-mate Luigi Coluccio currently leads the OK Senior Championship (82 pts) by 11 points from Joseph Turney.

Free practice sessions on the Italian circuit took place today (Thursday), with the qualifying heats taking centre stage on Friday (June 24th) afternoon.

There will be further qualifying heats for the OK Senior entrants on Saturday, with the Super Heats and Final taking place from 08.50hrs through to 12.40hrs on Sunday.
