FRANKFURT (GERMANY): South Racing is showing the importance of sound logistics, accurate planning and attention to detail by running cars in three separate events this week and next week in Argentina, Peru and Italy.

Desafio Ruta 40 is the first hurdle for the German-based team and the Spanish driver Fernando Alvarez and the Argentinean duo of Sebastián Halpern and Ricardo Martinez started the five-day Argentinean cross-country classic at the wheel of three Toyota Hiluxes in the town of San Rafael yesterday (Sunday). That event draws to a close on Thursday in the town of La Rioja.

The second challenge for the team, which runs under the management of Scott Abraham, will be Baja Inka, starting on Wednesday (June 22) and finishing on June 26, and also counting as a round of the Dakar Challenge 2016.

South Racing is running the Bolivian driver Marco Bulacia on the Peruvian desert classic in a Toyota Hilux. Bulacia and navigator Ruben Garcia finished 21st overall with South Racing at this year’s Dakar Rally.

Phase three of a manic few days for the small motor sport preparation company with be running one Mobilex-backed car for Juri Sazonov at the Italian Baja, round four of the FIA Cross-Country Rally World Cup, which runs around the northern Italian town of Pordenone on June 23-26.

Baja Inka is organised by the Autómovil Club de Peruano (ACP) and starts with scrutineering and documentation on June 23rd in Paracas, before the first of four special stages gets underway on June 24th. Stage two will be held through the desert adjacent to the Pacific Ocean on June 25th and two sections bring the competitive action to a close on June 26th, prior to the podium ceremony in Paracas. The town is situated in the Ica region of Peru, south of Lima.

There will be approximately 610km of competition with 250km planned for day one, 260km for day two and 100km for the final day.

The Italian Baja is a popular round of the FIA World Cup and has attracted over 100 entries. The opening stage for Sazonov starts and finishes at Cordenons on Friday, June 24th, stage two is centred around Valasone the following day and the final action takes place between San Lorenzo and Ponte della Delizia on Sunday, June 26th, prior to the stage arrival in Zoppola and the ceremonial finish in Pordenone.

“As motor sport enthusiasts we relish the logistical and management challenge of running our cars in different parts of the world at the same time,” said South Racing’s director Scott Abraham. “Leg one of the marathon couple of weeks is underway with our three cars entered in the Desafio Ruta 40 in north-west Argentina and then we have a car in Peru for Baja Inka and another at the popular Italian Baja in Europe.”

South Racing was founded in 2013. Based near Frankfurt in Germany, the young, customer-driven team also has workshops in Portugal and has extensive experience of the Dakar Rally and rallying in South America.
